3 Community Building Events this Weekend

This is shaping up to be a very busy weekend in and around Buffalo's Green Development Zone (GDZ), with 3 events going on in and around the zone, there's something for everyone to get into:

First up is the Buffalo Caribana Parade 2013. Presented by the Buffalo Caribbean American Organization, the parade takes place on Saturday August 17th starting at 11am. The parade begins at Bidwell Parkway & Richmond Avenue, heads down Richmond to York St, down York to Porter Avenue, and it ends at LaSalle Park.

The second thing up is Play Streets. This is the result of the national initiative The Partnership for a Healthier America and their honorary chair Michelle Obama. Buffalo has been selected as one of the cities to host this type of event. Starting in May of 2013 and going through September select city streets will be closed to cars and opened up to the community to get together, to get active and to have fun! In Buffalo it takes place also on Saturday August 17th going from 12pm - 4pm on Massachusetts Avenue between 18th st & Shields.

On Sunday August 18th the 2nd Annual Stop the Violence Community Luau takes place. It goes from 1pm - 7:30pm. This is the time to come together as one once again. There will be a basketball tournament presented by FRESH2DEATH Barber Shop, boxing presented by WESTSIDE BOXING, and a bounce house presented WIZARD OF BOUNCE HOUSES. All for free!!!
