Buffalo School Board To Vote On Community's Redesign Plans

The Buffalo Board of Education (BOE) will vote on redesign plans (tomorrow Wednesday January 28th) that students, parents, and staff worked on at each of the (4) schools targeted for closure or to be converted into charter schools. Certain elements within the area and on the BOE have their sights set on Bennett High School, Lafayette High School, East High School, and the Martin Luther King Multi-Cultural Institute to be closed and/or converted into charters. These redesign groups have worked tirelessly on their individual school turnaround plans, and we'll see if the BOE listens to this community or chooses to ignore us and begin to hand our schools over to private businessmen. We're meeting at 4:30pm with CitizenAction, parents, teachers, and others at 4:30pm, the BOE meeting starts at 5:30pm. It's taking place at Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts, 450 Masten Ave in Buffalo.
