On Friday, March 27th, members of PUSH and VOICE came together for two direct action protests calling on County Executive Collins to reconsider his decision to eliminate WIC, a vital program that provides baby formula and other nutritious foods to pregnant women and infants. The program is fully funded by the Federal government. The elimination or downsizing of WIC would have widespread public health impacts and would undoubtedly increase health-care costs as a result of malnutrition and emergency room visits.
PUSH and VOICE visited Collins' office and made our voices heard throughout the Rath Building on Friday. Please check out the Buffalo News article on the protest.
