This past week, PUSH board member and neighborhood resident Delores Powell was selected by the television program "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to receive a brand new home!
Delores and her family were flown to Jamaica for the week while thousands of volunteers descended on the West Side to aid the building process. Thanks to the hard work of all folks involved, Delores now has a beautiful, green, new home to enjoy!
Thanks the efforts of WNY Americorps, David Stapleton, and PUSH, 50 other homes were able to have repairs and other work done on them. In addition, PUSH was able to complete two other projects, a community garden at the corner of 15th and Utica and a rain garden on Mass. Ave.
PUSH is especially proud of the 100 plus neighborhood residents who volunteered on various projects. We are proud of the neighborhood and even more proud of its people, go West Side!
Due to the extraordinary spirit present in the neighborhood that week, PUSH wanted to recognize and celebrate the contributions of all the neighborhood residents, so we had a party on Friday to name and dedicate our newest community garden (at the intersection of Utica and 15th)as the "Good Neighbors Garden, in honor of the blood, sweat, and tears of the neighborhood residents.
