This past Wednesday, October 8th, PUSH held a rally at Lafayette Square in downtown Buffalo to celebrate our victory as well as kick off our newest endeavor; our Green Jobs, Green Housing campaign. This was fresh off the heels of our press conference with Mayor Brown during which he announced his commitment to our Anti-Poverty Platform, a victory that was a year in the making.
The 200 people who showed up on that rain-soaked Wednesday wanted to remind Wall Street and our political leaders that this economy isn't working for regular people and that it's time corporate fat cats stopped getting a free ride on the backs of hardworking families. We made the call loud and clear for REAL investment in REAL PEOPLE and that to us, green jobs and housing means things like better insulation of our homes, more efficient furnaces and the ability to get local jobs to local people so they do not have to drive an hour to work every morning. To see for yourself, check out the Artvoice Video documenting the rally
. A special thanks to David Torke & Victoria Ciostek for the great pictures.
We encourage everyone who came to the Rally to come celebrate our campaign victory with us at our monthly member meeting which is this Saturday, October 18th at 3p.m. at 271 Grant St.
Hope to see you there!
