About the Sustainability Program Associate Position

The Sustainability Program Associate provides clerical and planning support to staff in the Sustainability department, including PUSH Green programming. The Program Associate serves as a primary point of contact for internal and external community members on all matters pertaining to PUSH’s Sustainability and PUSH Green programming.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Serves as first and primary point of contact for community (customer) engagement in office setting.
• Manages Sustainability/PUSH Green main phonelines, voicemails, main email address and follow up with phone calls/emails and forwarding to the appropriate team member.
• Collects internal mail.
• Facilitates awareness and referral to programs available through Sustainability/ PUSH Green, including but not limited to the Western New York Regional Clean Energy Hub. Facilitates general steps for participating in programs.
• Assists with local outreach campaigns including mailers, flyers, organizing local events and workshops.
• Under the direction of the Director of Sustainability, maintains regular communication with all Sustainability and PUSH Green (PG) team members and participates in regularly scheduled PUSH Green (PG) team meetings to ensure effective coordination of energy efficiency retrofit and clean energy programs and resources.
• Assist with application processing for Sustainability/PUSH Green staff and Program Managers.
• Maintains customer lists using appropriate database(s) (e.g., Sharepoint, Salesforce, Excel) to move customers through the process and guides customers to appropriate resources and programs. Reporting and tracking must be in accordance with NYSERDA Salesforce Definitions & Guidance.
• Data entry for both NYSERDA Salesforce portal and PUSH’s Salesforce database.
• Creates and disburses welcome letters, wait list letters, Anniversary letters (for W&D program & BEHIP program), mailers, and any form of letter recognition needed for programs.
• Assist with Western New York W&D, BEHIP and Erie County Home Rehab intake, data entry, follow up with customers, send out application packets to families.
• Maintains current and up-to-date knowledge of energy efficiency program components, solar PV program components, and other related programs and processes.
• Comply with NYSERDA requirements for reporting and communication, as necessary.
• Attends regular training and meetings sponsored by NYSERDA for program information and updates.
• Assist with logistics of coordinating and scheduling events/tabling/presentations/workshops.

Education and Qualifications
• High School Diploma, Equivalent or and/or equivalent experience
• Minimum one (1) year community outreach and engagement experience preferred. Related/transferable work experience considered.
• Two (2) years of customer service and administrative experience.
• Service-related experience working in under-resourced and marginalized low-income communities is highly preferred.
• Must be comfortable meeting with people, cold calling, and providing front end and back-end customer service; experience in these areas is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and familiar with work order systems key.
• Experience with Salesforce and/or other web-based social networking and mobile software applications helpful.
• Knowledge/ experience of NYSERDA and non-NYSERDA Programs and resources (e.g. utility programs, HEAP, etc.) is a plus.
• A proactive, creative, and flexible attitude is helpful.
• Strong time management and creative problem-solving skills required.
• Must be very detail-oriented, organized, self-directed, and an effective communicator.
• Willing to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary.
• A valid NYS driver’s license and access to reliable private transportation is required.
• Bilingual (Spanish proficiency, specifically) is a plus.

The salary range for this position, starting salary to be determined by combination of education, experience, and skill level, is:

  • $21.44 – 24.15 per hour
