About the Campaign Manager Position

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage effective issue-based community organizing campaigns that build community power at the local/regional level in the areas of housing, climate, and environmental justice.
• Supervise the policy and campaigns team, including the climate justice organizer, housing justice organizer, policy coordinator, and other key team members.
• Lead the team in continuously engaging PUSH members and frontline community residents in issue-based campaign work, including issue cutting, campaign planning, research, power mapping, base building, and campaign evaluation activities.
• Develop comprehensive campaign strategies that follow detailed, working budgets.
• Manage campaign field operations, including but not limited to base building and 1-on-1 relationship building, door-to-door canvassing, phone and text banking, and event tabling.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including other organizations, coalition partners, policymakers, and community members to advance the mission and goals of PUSH as an organization.

• Identify opportunities through PUSH’s issue-based campaigns to build narrative power around community-driven housing and climate solutions, community control of resources, tenant rights, energy democracy, and a just transition to a regenerative renewable energy economy
• Develop and use systems and databases for tracking and reporting on all field-based organizing campaign activities.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of campaigns, adjusting as necessary.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external organizations, legislators, lobbyists, and other key stakeholders.
• Develop an in-depth understanding of the political and social movement landscape to effectively navigate and influence it.
• Demonstrate significant organizing experience with measurable results from previous campaigns.
• Quickly adapt to the role with minimal orientation, hitting the ground running upon hire.
• Lead and manage the campaign team, ensuring cohesion and productivity.
• Organize and oversee events that support campaign objectives.
• Develop and manage campaign budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Advocate for the organization’s mission and goals to legislators and other decision-makers.
• Manage the public image of the campaign, including media relations and communications.
• Conduct research to inform campaign strategies and stay updated on relevant issues.
• Help develop and implement a movement training program, that includes political and popular education curriculum and organizing skills-based learning and practice, for PUSH members, frontline community residents, and partners.
• Help lead PUSH’s participation in statewide coalitions and national organizing networks and ensure alignment with local/regional campaign priorities.
• Implement a leadership development system, including individualized leadership development plans, that accounts for leadership development needs, strengths, and opportunities among current and prospective PUSH members.
• Foster a culture of commitment, creativity, transparency, collaboration, and accountability among team members and between staff and PUSH members and frontline community residents.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

–Establish and oversee staff performance goals, assign/set objectives, tasks, and priorities.
–Oversee and coordinate the workflow of assigned staff and departments to ensure projects are completed in a timely and quality manner.
–Ensure staff receive appropriate training, development, and job-relevant supports.

–Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
–Manage employment matters including discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
–Maintain an active, appropriate workforce of professionals in the department/assigned positions.
–Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach.
–Additional staff support duties, as needed.

Education and Qualifications 

–Minimum of two (2) years of experience organizing and managing issue-based campaigns.
–Skilled in coalition-based organizing and advocacy efforts that require coordination across multiple organizations.
–Minimum of one (1) year direct supervisory experience.
–A racial equity approach to policy development, advocacy, organizing, and legislative efforts.
–Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to track high-stakes deliverables with changing timelines.
–Strong relationship building skills with BIPOC communities and multilingual community leaders.
–Experience with policy analysis and advocacy.
–Previous experience in leading and facilitating trainings.
–Experience with legislative advocacy at the local, state, or federal level preferred.
–Ability to develop and implement strategic issue-based campaign plans that include organizing, policy, and communications goals.
–Subject matter knowledge in the areas of housing, climate, and/or environmental justice is preferred.
–Must reside locally in Buffalo, NY area, able to work on site at least three (3) days per week.
–Team player, creative, innovative, flexible & enthusiastic self-starter who can work independently.
–Experience working with diverse populations.
–Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and familiar web-based social networking and mobile software applications, including Outlook 365 and Google Drive key. Salesforce experience is helpful.
–A proactive, creative, and flexible attitude.
–Willing to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary.
–Strong organizational skills, including good attention to detail and follow-through necessary.
–Superior interpersonal, organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
–Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
–A valid driver’s license and access to reliable private transportation is required.
–Bilingual/bicultural a plus.

The salary range for this position, to be determined by combination of education, experience, and skill level, is:

• $57,500 – $65,000 annual

This position is full-time, supervisory, exempt.
