Crossroads Coalition To Announce Establishment of Crossroads Community Fund to Directly Benefit Frontline Communities, Grassroots Organizations, Cooperatives and Small Businesses
Crossroads Coalition – a local collective of 10 grassroots organizations working toward a Just Transition in Buffalo – will hold a press conference and reception on Tuesday, March 25 at 1 p.m. at the Frank E. Merriweather, Jr. Library, to announce the establishment of the Crossroads Community Fund.
This once-in-a-generation funding opportunity will directly benefit frontline communities in the City of Buffalo. Approximately $1 million a year will be distributed through three grant programs over the next 10 years.
Speakers will include leaders representing the coalition’s members: Open Buffalo, PUSH Buffalo, African Heritage Economic Initiative, Coalition of Economic Justice, Cooperation Buffalo, Partnership for the Public Good, Public Accountability Initiative, Massachusetts Avenue Project, Ujima Company Inc., and the WASH Project.
Crossroads Coalition was formed in 2015 to promote Just Transition initiatives in Buffalo at the intersection of climate, economic, and racial justice. Their work brings established and emerging organizations to the forefront of the movement to advocate for policies that promote climate justice – key tenets of the Just Transition framework. Their emphasis is on building a new economy in Buffalo for the well-being of people and the planet.
